Fiber to your home
Fiber carries data as light. Ask whether the optical cable reaches your home or ends at a shared building switch. Confirm the supplied optical terminal, router, installation work and power requirements. A fiber label alone does not establish upload speed or a dedicated connection.
Mobile & fixed wireless
Mobile internet uses a SIM and a mobile network; fixed wireless may use an outdoor receiver pointed at a nearby access site. Signal, congestion, equipment and placement affect the experience. Check the data allowance, fair-use terms and whether the quoted offer permits a home router.
DSL, cable & satellite
DSL uses telephone copper, cable internet uses coaxial cable, and satellite connects through an outdoor terminal. These are educational categories, not a claim that every type is available in Bangladesh or at your address. Ask the provider about installation, obstructions, latency and the full equipment price.
Before choosing a connection
Get written confirmation of service at your building. Compare internet download and upload separately from BDIX or cache claims. Ask who owns the router, how faults are reported, and what happens during power loss. Use the same checklist for every quote.
